Albert : Or the Book of Man
by Perry Brass, Tom Laine (Editor)
Our Price: $11.95Order
Book Description:
Albert or the Book of Man is the third work in a unique science-fiction series by Perry Brass. Two previous novels, Mirage and Circles, introduced the reader to the magical world of Ki, where men-loving-men and "off-sexers" live in wary tolerance under the guiding watch of the priestesses of the Goddess. A fantasy realm one part radical faeries' utopia and one part nightmare, the "same-sexers" of Ki are endowed with telepathic powers as well as a mystical third testicle, and for three generations now, they have not been able to stay away from Earth. Although Albert is a novel unto itself, it is part of a saga, comparable to other fantasy sagas like Tolkien's Lord of the Rings or C.S. Lewis's Narnia books, a rich and complete imagining of a whole world. Gay science fiction can tend towards the genre-ish-rewrites of old Heinlan plots with a sexy space commander replacing the hunky straight one; or to the obvious-fantasy utopias about humanoid homosexuals. Avoiding these faults with a depth of vision and a mastery of solid prose, Brass gives us a book where lesser writers would have only a premise. |

Book Description:
This book is a Godsend -- every gay man or lesbian thinking of coming out should first read "Beyond Acceptance" to anticipate what the family may go through, and then, after coming out, present the book as a gift. I came out 16 years ago, yet bought 2 copies, one for my sister, one for my parents. I have never seen a book like this before. It's enlightening not only for parents of gays, but also for gays themselves who need to know the spiritual and emotional difficulties their parents face when they come out. |

Is It a Choice? : Answers to 300 of the Most Frequently Asked Questions About Gays and Lesbians
by Eric Marcus
List Price: $13.00
Our Price: $10.40
You Save: $2.60 (20%)
Order
Book Description:
A good primer for the novice, and resource for coming out. This is a good, fairly comprehensive primer for those looking for answers to some common, and not too common questions about homosexuality. The biggest value of the book comes in its readability and simplicity. This book is eminently suitable for those looking for simple answers to some not-so-simple questions. While we did not totally agree with everything that Marcus states, his answers would be more than satisfying to the average, uninformed reader. We have used this book as a resource to coming out
specifically to relatives and friends who had a lot of questions, but did not quite know how to ask them. His use of anecdotes and personal observations mixed with humor and an understated writing style makes this a very non-threatening book for the novice. We recommend this as a good substitute for the "How-To-Be-Gay" manuals flooding the market. |

And Then I Became Gay: Young Men's Stories
by Ritch C. Savin-Williams
List Price: $19.99
Our Price: $15.99
You Save: $4.00 (20%)
Order
Book Description:
This book is like having someone hold your hand as you accept the news that someone you love is gay. It is written by parents who share what were their reactions, questions and fears upon learning that their son or daughter is gay. Is is my fault? What will the neighbors think? What will my church think? The book presents parent's own answers to these questions and refers to current outside writing on the subjects addressed. It's "must read" for anyone trying to understand homosexuality, coming-out and how to best understand and love someone who is gay. |
